The year is 2020! We guess it is going to be an inspiration for many and definitely going to be in the history books. We never thought this was going to be this way, we have evolved so much from years, and this year was no less. No doubt, we are facing some severe challenges to overcome, but do you realize, there was a time when people were thinking about working from home, but now they are actually doing it.

Every change brings challenges to cope up with, working from home also has some, so here we have mentioned a few tips for working from home productively, without compromising your comfort zone. From maintaining regular hours to socializing with colleagues, numerous options can help you stay sane while working remotely.

Working From Home Tips:

1. Maintain the regular working hours

The most common mistake people make is not maintaining regular hours. You will be able to ace the work-life balance by scheduling the timings of starting the day and calling it off. So make a schedule and stick to it.

Plus, when working remotely, there are chances you have to start your work early or sometimes late at night, no matter when you do the work. The only thing to remember is maintaining the hours. If you have planned for 8.5 hours, then stick to it.

2. Have a simple to-do list

You might not have realized the effectiveness of making a to-do list. Sharing my personal experience, it simplifies the work. Whether it is about looking at the job done or knowing the deadlines, the first thing to do in the morning is reviewing the to-do list, prioritizing the work, and then starting off your day.

Along with a to-do list, you can also opt for a planner. Planners help you in planning and allocating the work according to their deadlines.

3. Dedicated office space

Not having a dedicated space can make your day unproductive despite having a to-do list, specified working hours, or anything. The thing that is lacking in the WFH scenario is lack of concentration, and dedicated office space can do wonders.

Sometimes it’s hard to keep the focus on work, when your family members, pet or loved one is around, so the best option is to have a place devoted to the work, like creating a garden office area.

We are not kidding; that’s true! There are many benefits of garden office pods, like having privacy, a space to move, increased productivity, and whatnot. The most important one is staying close to nature, which will refresh you even when you look out for 5 minutes.

4. Schedule breaks

Taking breaks is necessary for staying sane. However, taking it on unusual times will take your focus away. Do schedule the breaks like you would have in the office, like taking a lunch break at sharp 12:30 pm and joining back at 1.30 pm, same for tea or coffee breaks.

Scheduling breaks channelize the work. Not just scheduling helps but taking the break entirely is effective. No matter how busy you are or how much workload you have, don’t be hard on yourself. Take it easy!

5. Socialize with colleagues

Not like meeting in person, we know you can’t go outside during this pandemic, but you can always go for facetime Talk about how your day was, ask doubts (if you have any), share things, laugh and enjoy the session. This will refresh your mind. Many companies do offer remote chat channels for employees to connect. Even if you don’t like socializing, try this one.

6. Attend video meetings

Don’t ever skip those, not just for work, but it will also make you feel connected and in the work area. Also, that doesn’t mean you can keep mum, speak up, share your ideas, be heard. A simple “Goodbye! Have a great day ahead,” will work fine.

7. Use your extracurricular skills

This is for weekends when you don’t have work to do, even if you are freelancing it is necessary to have a day off (or weekend). During this time, explore your creative side, and do what you like, it can be cooking, cleaning, painting, crafting, gaming, designing, anything: extracurricular activities, the work you do other than your daily routine.

This also includes exercise, yoga, meditation, and many more. Just make sure you stay away from work. If you have a separate work phone, keep it on silent, lock your garden office, and spend your time with family, friends, and pets.
