Residential security is certainly the main and most important thing, such as installing fire alarms, CCTV, and even installing fire-rated doors. Fire rated doors themselves are the fastest and safest way out in the event of a fire. The standard of this one door includes door, frame, hardware, and glass.

The manufacture of fire-rated doors is often not supplied by the same company or manufacturer, but several materials from separate factories or companies. The assembly must be with components that have been tested and in accordance with standards. Therefore, the fire rated doors are not arbitrary doors that can be made arbitrarily.

Standard Methods of Fire Test

Sudah dijelaskan sebelumnya bahwa fire rated doors harus melalui uji standard. Saat ini, IBC mengharuskan fire rated diuji dengan tekanan positif, those are UL 10C fire test or NFPA 252.

  • Fire Endurance

Fire-rated doors were heat tested at 1925 degrees Fahrenheit with a maximum time of 180 minutes. Here, the door will be seen if it has an opening that can make fire through it. And if the door has no opening, it is certified with a durability rating of 20/45/60/90/180 minutes.

  • Hose Flow/Stream

After the fire endurance test, the fire rated door will be tested for hose flow. A fire hose will drain 30 psi of water from 20 feet away. It should be noted that not all doors that have passed the fire endurance test can be retested with the house stream. Across the US it is customary to set the 20-minute door not through the next test, which is the house stream test.

  • Temperature Rise

Temperature rise doors are doors that can limit the transmission of heat from one side to the other. With this, the safety of building occupants can be well maintained. The temperature rise rating is 250 degrees F, 450 degrees F, or 560 degrees F. Doors undergo a standard 30-minute fire resistance test.
